We were supposed to meet Aliah's teacher at 8.45 am and Hadi's at 9.00 am. We woke up late and rushed straight to school. Luckily we arrived just before nine and met Miss Esther, Aliah's teacher. She said only one thing, that Aliah's an excellent student, no complain whatsoever... a model to her peers especially her neat work and handwriting... hehehe... alhamdulillah. She works hard in school and I know that she's enjoying her time in school. What can I say, I'm proud of her.
Next we went to Hadi's teachers. In Pre-reception, they have 5 teachers and each would control a table (the students would have to move according to lessons). They have English, Topics, Maths, Arts and Arabic. Mrs Sofa (the English teacher) said that Hadi's doing well in his lessons, very good academically...(once she said that, I could guessed what's coming next... the "but" bit)...
The teachers were frustrated with Hadi... they said that his attitude's very bad, very stubborn and won't listen to their instructions... Hmmm... One thing I appreciate about these teachers were their honesty, at least I know what's happening in school... At least, we're discovering this very early and we can do something about it at home too. The Topics teacher said that he's very intelligent (he managed to learn perfectly... his scores were perfect, all 100 percent). He loves to read and knows his numbers and alphabets (in English and Arabic!), but when he's ask to write and concentrate on his work, trouble arises... he just refused...Hmmm...
We went to see Mrs Mona to discuss the two kids. I said that they're like night and day. Mrs Mona added 'it's like nightmare and day'...hehehe... I like the school because the teacher's dedicated and very strict. Especially Mrs Mona, she's a no-nonsense kind of person. Anyway, we decided that something needs to be done about Hadi.
When we came home, we sat the kids down on the sofa and told about what the teachers said about them. Aliah was of course happy when we told her that she's doing well and was very curious when we asked her to go into her room, leaving Hadi with us (such Miss busybody!)... Anyway, we scolded Hadi about his writing and the tantrums in school. I talked to him sternly and hopefully he'll be a changed person in school. We also punished him by not letting him watch TV at all.
I also started writing lessons with him immediately. I noticed that he's not able to concentrate well, he'll always have something to ask about everything (nothing to do with the task at hand...sigh...). Anyway, I'll keep him under close supervision from now on. Hopefully everything turns out well with Hadi. I'll have to see his teachers again before we go back to Malaysia...sigh...
