Petronita Outreach Programme : Amir...

As usual I brought Amir along on the trip with me. I'm really glad to have a son who's not very fussy. At first he was standing along with me at the edge of the crowd. Later he sat down on the dusty earth. I just let him be.

Maybe certain mothers would refrain their children from playing with dirt but as I see it, it's not dirty. It's just dusty and perfect for playing. If it's suitable to be used for tayamum, who am I to say otherwise...hehehe. He didn't complain or even whine of the hot sun.

Some of the Sudanese mothers smiled at him. Maybe because he's really fair and because of the hot temperature, he had rosy cheeks. But what made me so proud of him was when one boy came near, wanting to play with my son.

The boy even wanted to give Amir his toy (a small motorcycle) but Amir gave it back. Luckily he didn't take the toy away from the boy because I suspect that that's the only toy the boy had... That also shows how strong the sharing concept is in a Sudanese. They started at a very young age. Compare that to our own kids (my own kids) who would hang on to their toy rather than share it with others...sigh...Just enjoy the pictures...

He was looked at the people gathered there...

Started playing...

In his own world...

Luckily the earth was dry, very dry...

The boy who wanted to share his toy with Amir...
