Yassin recital and morning coffee...Pn. Taha

When we were busy taking group pictures, suddenly there was a bit of a commotion. There were so many cameras so, there was a bit of a mix-up. Puan Taha was asking me, 'who's camera is this'. So, I scrolled to previous pictures, just trying to find some familiar faces.

I scrolled to a picture and Su asked me to zoom in the picture. Lo and behold! It was Puan Taha and her son's picture! All the while, she got her own camera...hehehe. So, we laughed like mad...hehehe. Just look at the pictures.

First, she asked Najwa to check...

This is when she discovered it was hers after all...

This is when she tried to find suitable excuses...hehehe... next time, you wear your glasses, ok?!! Hehehe...

Yassin recital and morning coffee...Part 1

Actually, Kak Maria, Kak Shidah, Ina Sakinah and me decided to have a morning coffee for Block A to welcome Noor (who just arrived from Malaysia), Sh. Najwa and those who spent their raya in Malaysia. I would also like to discuss a few things about the upcoming raya gathering.

But, the day before the event which was supposed to be held at Kak Maria's house, we received news that Pn. Bariah (who used to stay in Sudan) passed away of lung cancer around 4.30 pm Malaysian time. So, I discussed with Kak Zila and Asma' about organising a yassin recital as soon as possible. When it was decided that it'll be held the next afternoon at 3 pm, I discussed with Kak Maria whether it would be possible to turn our morning coffee into a yassin recital and also invite Block B ladies. She agreed and I managed to persuade the other two ladies also. So, alhamdulillah, we just need to cook more for the next day.

I was supposed to cook nasi impit, kuah kacang and tiramisu. And since we're inviting more people, I offered my house as the new venue. I panicked a bit thinking that I had to cook for a lot of people...hehehe. In the evening, I had to enlist Ina's help to taste my kuah kacang, she had to put in more sugar and salt...hehehe.

Ina cooked beef rendang, sambal udang and cucur udang while Kak Maria made spaghetti bolognese, cakes and both hot and cold drinks. Kak Shidah fried meehoon and made dadih. So, we had a full table.

I sent out sms to invite everyone and asking people to come at 9.30 am sharp so that the yassin recital could be done on time. The first group who came were the '3 sekawan block b'...hehehe... who arrived at slightly after 9 (while the hosts were still setting the table)...hehehe. We invited ustaz firdaus to lead the yassin recital and also tahlil arwah for Puan Bariah. Alhamdulillah, everything turned out well.

Though, the ustaz must have felt a bit awkward surrounded by all the ladies... When he left, everybody was more relaxed and the noise level just shoot up...hehehe. The only thing that we didn't do was have the block meeting...never mind, we'll do that some other time.

I am satisfied that we've done this little good deed for someone that some of us knew well. Semoga Puan Bariah digolongkan bersama orang2 beriman, insyaallah. Al-fatihah...

Amir...caught in the act

Sometime in August, we bought a potty for Amir. But until now, I'm still too lazy to potty-train him...hehehe. So, though the potty ended up in the bathroom, we didn't use it. Instead Amir used it for playing when he's in the shower.

On Tuesday evening, suddenly I heard my husband calling me from my room. When I arrived at the scene, Amir was crying... with the potty stuck on him...hehehe. Did I help him? Not at once. I snapped a few photos first, then I helped him...hehehe. At first, he was crying, then when he discovered that I'm only going to 'unstuck' him after all the photo opportunities, he relaxed and waited patiently...hehehe

Meeting Sh. Naila...

On Sunday afternoon, I went to Sh. Najwa's house, who just came back the day before. When I arrived, there were a few ladies there already, Kak Maria, Ina Sakinah, Kak Rohana and Ina Wahab. The latest edition to the Syed family was in the arms of Kak Maria...hehehe

At first, she was sleepy. Then, when she heard us talking (loud as usual), she opened her eyes. And my God, she has the biggest and roundest eyes, ever...hehehe. So cute and she was very alert. Maybe she was thinking that 'this' noise must be the one that she heard when she was in her mummy's womb...hehehe

As usual, when we gathered after a long absence, it was quite difficult to make head or tails of our conversation (or rather conversations in different directions)... I was sure that Ina Wahab and Kak Rohana had a hard time understanding us...hehehe. Anyway, nice meeting you, Sh. Naila... and welcome back, Sh. Najwa!

When she first opened her eyes...

Eyes as big as the saucers...hehehe

Very alert for a three-month old baby...

Alahai... my kids...

So, on Sunday morning, the kids were excited to go to school. Well, they did have brand new bags to show off...hehehe. With their new bags, they also get a new pencil case each. There was definitely a spring to their steps that morning...hehehe

Early morning...

When Amir woke up, he also wanted to go to school...sigh. So, he kept on parading all around the house. He pretended to be in school...hehehe. I just let him be. When Hadi came back, I noticed that his bag was not zipped and sure enough, he lost his pencil case...sigh. I was really mad, but what to do, it was just not our rezeki. It must have been one lucky day for another kid...sigh...

He was saying 'cheese'!

Carrying it around...hehehe

He's pretending that it was his break time...hehehe

Terrified of crocodile...

A few weeks ago, explorer asked about the price of one particular item in the shop in Omdurman. It was the head of a small crocodile on display. I didn't even noticed them when I was there...hehehe. So, I asked around, it seemed the head of the crocodile's actually an ashtray and the price was very reasonable.

So, when I heard that Pn.Taha (the ambassador's wife) was going to Omdurman, I asked her to buy it for me...and she did. But she only gave it to me on Saturday, the 3rd of October. When I brought it upstairs, the kids were excited looking at the wrapped object. Here, they would wrap every individual object separately...sigh... It would normally make me very impatient because they'll take such a long time in doing so!

Cam hadiah kahwin...hehehe

The ashtray...

When I finally unwrapped it, all the kids ran away screaming...hehehe. I have to say the craftmanship was really shoddy, but what do you expect?!! hehehe... At least there's a mark at the bottom of the crocodile. The glass was made in Indonesia. So, explorer, if you do not want to use it as an ashtray, you could use it as a 'finger bowl'...hehehe

Oh yes, back to the story, the kids all ran behind the curtain... to my delight....muahahaha. Guess who was the scariest? Aliah, of course! When my husband heard that they were scared, he purposely scared them a little bit more. Just look at the pictures.

A curtain full of kids...

A cheeky face peeking out!

The result?!! One pretty scared kid...

Aliah was really scared. The boys were scared but curious. Anyway, I've finally send the item last night, to Aliah's relief...hehehe. So, what kind of a parents are we? The scary one...hehehe
