Impromptu peads visit?!!

Later in the evening, Abg Pian and Wani came with their kids. We were told that their third child was quite sick. She's a little bit younger than Amir, so she must be about 2 years old. The sad thing was that she couldn't walk and the doctor who attended to her said that it was something to do with her nerves. The 'frustrating' bit was that the child was asked to be admitted on Sunday, the 22nd of June (even though she was seen by the doctor on wednesday?!!). 4 more days at home...just waiting to be admitted?!!

So, we asked Angah to have a look at her. Well, what's the use of having a paediatrician in the family if not to help, right? Anyway, Angah examined the baby and said that he was afraid that it could be a case of 'Guillain-Barre' (as pointed out by my husband! hehehe) where she had a fever before and the antibody produced attack her healthy cells instead. That's why she's progressively losing the use of her lower limbs.

Angah was concerned because it could ultimately constrict her respiratory system if not treated soon. If I were the parents, I would have run and camp at the hospital when the child could not walk...maybe I'm the panicky type of parent, who knows?!!

The funny thing was that Angah was not prepared to 'examine' any patient on his holiday...hehehe. So he had to improvise a little bit. When he wanted to test the girl's reflex, he asked for a 'kayu'. Being me, my mind started thinking of all sorts of 'kayu' from the small tree branch to a log?!! Luckily he found his 'kayu' substitute quicker than my 'imagination'. I wouldn't tell you here because I think the picture would explain better...hehehe

After that, he had to write a recommendation letter to the local doctor. I hope the child is now in better health and hopefully she would regain her walking abilities. Amin...

Angah was examining Abg Pian's daughter...

He was using the 'substitute'!

What is it? An old fashioned room key! Hehehe...

He was checking the correct 'terms'...

He was writing his recommendation...
