Kenduri Ema n Zali : Part 2

From Sabak Bernam, we arrived back in Rawang around 3.30 pm. It seemed that I came back just in time to eat with the tuan rumah...hehehe. There were so many guests that they had to cook the second time round.

Our late lunch was further 'enhance' with the availability of sambal tempoyak, specially made by tuan rumah...I could still remember the taste...sigh. Of course, after such kenduri, the cleaning up would be waiting for us. Luckily we have great neighbours that would help until the end. The teenagers also worked overtime.

Alhamdulillah I'm always blessed with good neighbours. While in Taman Sri Rawang, I had Kak Normah, Kak Arah and countless others and in BTP, I have Ema, Zali, Kak Ida, Abg Mus and Ina and Man. Even though they're not rich but they are willing to freely give their time and effort to help their neighbours. I truly appreciate them. Thank you, Allah...

Kenduri Pak Alang Baguk

On Sunday, July 26th, I woke up the kids early as we need to be in Sabak Bernam for a wedding of one of my relatives. Before we went, I had breakfast first at Ema's house (pulut and sambal tumis ikan bilis...yummy!).

We arrived in my Pak Alang Baguk's house in Parit Tiga around 10.30 am. The marhaban group was about to finish and we ate straight away. It was a truly kampung spread with ikan masin, gulai lemak umbut, sambal belacan, pecal etc.  As a kampung girl, I truly love it! It beats the city style of nasi minyak, dalca and ayam masak merah anytime...hehehe

Umbut kelapa, ikan masin and sambal belacan...yummylicious!

Pak Alang Baguk is my father's cousin so we're quite close. He looked a little bit like my father actually and shared the fear of hospital with my late father...hehehe. He's shorter than my father though. So, when he called a week earlier to invite me to his son's wedding, I couldn't refuse...sigh. He is also taking care of his OKU brother, Pak Usu. Normally when I'm in town, I would drop by his house and over the years we became close. Maybe one of the reasons because he knew my father very well and could tell me my father's exploits when he was young...hehehe

After eating, we quickly made our way out of the compound while it's still early. From there, we went to see my auntie in SPP, Perak and later dropped by in Sekendi, to see my mak ulong and my uncle. By 2 pm, we're already on our way back to Rawang. Enjoy the pictures.

I'm back!!!

I'm back in Khartoum from a 3 month long holiday... Was a bit surprised when I realised that I consider Khartoum as my 'home' for now...hehehe.

As usual, the weather was hot but it's not as hot as Dubai, luckily. The house was dusty and I haven't unpack most of the things properly...sigh.

I also just realised that this is my 301 entry... hehehe. Glad to say that Hadi finally slept in his own room but Amir still refused to sleep with Hadi...hehehe

This is just a random ramblings actually. Too tired to think and write at the same time... So, hopefully I'll be able to write a better entry tomorrow. Ciao!

Erkkk!!! Driving license?!!

This morning I went to the post office to buy duty stamps for the documents for Amanah Raya. While waiting for my turn, I heard the man in front of me renew his driving license. Automatically I reached inside my bag for my own driving license...

Erkkk! It expired in December 2008?!! I've been driving like mad for the past three months without a legal driving license! Oh my goat (bak kata Aina)! Hehehe. So when it was my turn, I renew my license... not for one year... nor two... but for five years! I paid rm152... I do not feel it's a burden to pay that much because I know I'll have a peace of mind.

So, when I told my husband, he checked his license which will expire in January 2010. Since he won't be in the country then, he renew his license also... like me, for another five years.

Now, we have a little problem... How are we going to remember when our driving license will expire?!! Erkkk?!!

Erkkk!!! Packing?!!

I'm supposed to be packing our things to go back to Sudan tonight. But I'm having a problem...to say the least. I've run out of luggage space?!! Erkkkk?!! How am I going to fit everything into my bags?!! I could leave some of the clothes behind but by the time we come back next year, I'm sure the kids would not be able to fit into them anymore...sigh.

What to do?!! I think I'd better try and do my best before my husband see me wasting my time blogging...hehehe. Ciao!

Kenduri Ema n Zali : Part 1

Ema and Zali live just 2 doors away from me and I'm lucky because I've got good neighbours. We're quite close and of course when they're preparing for their kenduri on Sunday, I had to help the day before.

So, on Saturday afternoon, Abg Mus (my next door neighbour) and me offered our help. But instead of helping, we ate first. In my defence, Ema offered me a plate of delicious sambal tempoyak! Hehehe... Both of us kept on replenishing our plates...hehehe.

Actually the 'real' work started at night. I helped the ladies by cutting the chillies. Man (another close neighbour) prepared dinner. Two of Ema's aunties and her mother were there and they're very friendly. Soon, I joined them making jokes. Soon, the men could only smile and shake their heads looking at us...hehehe!

I bought sate for everyone and we had a nice dinner. Man cooked fish with 'cili padi' and Ema cooked sambal tumis petai. Fuh! when you combine it with sambal tempoyak... I definitely enjoyed myself. It was fun because I got to spend time with my friends and neighbours. I couldn't remember what time I got home because I had to sleep early as I was 'summoned' back to Sabak Bernam for one of my relative's wedding the next day... Just enjoy the pictures!
