Why did we go to Inqaz? Like last year, we came to give them some food for Ramadhan. We brought some basic food stuff like cooking oil, flour, onions, sugar, biscuits etc. We hope it would relieve some of their burden.
We went in two vans. When we arrived, they kids did not 'react', they didn't even smile. Maybe they're used to people giving them things or maybe they're trained not to show any excitement or they just couldn't care less... I didn't know but what I knew was the niat we came, we just wanted them to have a more comfortable Ramadhan. We also decided to prepare iftar for them on the 9th of September. We just collected fund from the ladies and the response was great. At least on one night of Ramadhan they could eat nice food.
The sight that greeted us...
Mr. Ibrahim and Kak Aishah...
Kak Husna with some of the boys...

They carried the onions...
The ustaz thanked us in arabic...
Do you know how these kids learn? They have to write the surah on a loh board (a wooden board) and they would hafaz that particular surah. When they hafaz, they recite it to their ustaz and only when they could do so properly, they are allowed to wash off the ink and write another surah. Sometimes they used the same loh board hundreds of times and it'll break and chipped...and they would still use it until it'll literally turn into too tiny pieces that you could not write on it anymore!
Last year, we collect donations from Petronas staff and families to buy new loh boards for them. Alhamdulillah we managed to collect enough not only to buy them loh boards, we also managed to give each kid a new jalabiya for eid as well as other comfort items like new mats etc. This year, they ask for new mats also and we gave that too.
A student was about to recite to the ustaz...
Kak Zu with a sample of the loh board. That's new...
