Yassin recital and morning coffee...Part 1

Actually, Kak Maria, Kak Shidah, Ina Sakinah and me decided to have a morning coffee for Block A to welcome Noor (who just arrived from Malaysia), Sh. Najwa and those who spent their raya in Malaysia. I would also like to discuss a few things about the upcoming raya gathering.

But, the day before the event which was supposed to be held at Kak Maria's house, we received news that Pn. Bariah (who used to stay in Sudan) passed away of lung cancer around 4.30 pm Malaysian time. So, I discussed with Kak Zila and Asma' about organising a yassin recital as soon as possible. When it was decided that it'll be held the next afternoon at 3 pm, I discussed with Kak Maria whether it would be possible to turn our morning coffee into a yassin recital and also invite Block B ladies. She agreed and I managed to persuade the other two ladies also. So, alhamdulillah, we just need to cook more for the next day.

I was supposed to cook nasi impit, kuah kacang and tiramisu. And since we're inviting more people, I offered my house as the new venue. I panicked a bit thinking that I had to cook for a lot of people...hehehe. In the evening, I had to enlist Ina's help to taste my kuah kacang, she had to put in more sugar and salt...hehehe.

Ina cooked beef rendang, sambal udang and cucur udang while Kak Maria made spaghetti bolognese, cakes and both hot and cold drinks. Kak Shidah fried meehoon and made dadih. So, we had a full table.

I sent out sms to invite everyone and asking people to come at 9.30 am sharp so that the yassin recital could be done on time. The first group who came were the '3 sekawan block b'...hehehe... who arrived at slightly after 9 (while the hosts were still setting the table)...hehehe. We invited ustaz firdaus to lead the yassin recital and also tahlil arwah for Puan Bariah. Alhamdulillah, everything turned out well.

Though, the ustaz must have felt a bit awkward surrounded by all the ladies... When he left, everybody was more relaxed and the noise level just shoot up...hehehe. The only thing that we didn't do was have the block meeting...never mind, we'll do that some other time.

I am satisfied that we've done this little good deed for someone that some of us knew well. Semoga Puan Bariah digolongkan bersama orang2 beriman, insyaallah. Al-fatihah...
