Egypt : Kubu Israel...

On the 26th of December, we made our way to the North of Egypt. Our final destination for the day would be Dahab but we made a few pit stops along the way. On the way to our first destination we had to pass through the Suez Canal. Yeay!

Our first destination was Kubu Israel. Let me try to remember the story...hehehe. In 1973, a plot was discovered by the Egyptian Government. What plot? A plot by the Israelis to attack Egypt. The Israelis was successful in entering the sinai area by making a tunnel underground. They also managed to make 36 substantial hide-outs where they secreted weapons and soldiers, ready to attack. They covered everything under the sand and rock so that nobody realised they were there.

Alhamdulillah, by Allah's miracle, an ulama' had a dream showing him that there were dangers under the sand. So, the Egyptian army poured water on the sand and the hide-outs were revealed. They had to use 40 tons of explosives just to destroy the tunnel. It was very well-made. It was famously known as the 10 day war which the Egyptian won on the 16th of October 1973. They commemorate the occasion in many forms, I saw a city called 6th October City in Cairo among other things.

Taurat was also among the things discovered...

The bedroom...

After paying the entrance fee, we were allowed to explore the area with the guide of a soldier. We were also allowed to enter a few of the hideouts. I have to say that the preparation for the invasion probably took months if not years. Even after 37 years, the hide-outs were still standing strong.

If you look closely, they used very sturdy material all over. They used steel in most places so in order for them to build those hideout secretly must have taken great cunning. And I have to say they must be very patient as well. In each hideout they have bedroom, office space etc. Oh yes, the soldiers still patrol the area and its surrounding and we were not allowed to explore unattended because there was still live mines everywhere.

All of us :)

All in all, it was a very educational visit. It opened my eyes to how good in planning the Israelis is. They have vision and patience to carry their plan through. Be aware and take care :)
