Egypt : Makam Anwar Sadat...

Makam Anwar Sadat (the black box at the back of the monument)

From the airport, we arrived at Villa Sarawak around 8 am. We had breakfast at the cafe at Villa Selangor and after that slept. We asked Afzan to pick us up after zohor which was around 12.30 pm. Actually we felt ready to explore Cairo but since we had 11 days to do that, decided to take it easy and catch up on our sleep.

The first stop was to visit Makam Anwar Sadat. Apart from the tomb, they've built an impressive monument which from afar looked like a pyramid. Up close, it was made up of arabic letters of the names of soldiers missing in action during active duty. The area was guarded by three pairs of soldiers dressed in three different period in military history. I'm not sure whether this is true or not but I was told that those soldiers on duty were on some sort of punishment...hehehe... which was why they looked so out of sorts...hehehe

President Anwar Sadat was the second President after Jamal Nasser, and he was executed by his own army. Why? Because it was perceived by his own men that he signed an agreement which seemed to favour the Israelis. Want to know more? Hehehe, if so, I'm proud to have awaken the history buff in you...hehehe. Go and google his name.

The kids were a bit impatient because they were hungry. Plus the fact that they saw their first McDonald on our way to the monument...sigh. So, after taking some pictures, we left.

Hadi, playing with one of the cannons...

Afzan was telling us of the history...

Amir was angry at me for taking so many pictures...hehehe
