Task 6 : Brape dik?!!

Today, Sri and I went to Ariani's in Kota Damansara to find a suitable tudung for us. I've never been to an Ariani boutique before, ever! The last time I was in a muslimah boutique was in Sri Munawarah, way back in 2003, for Sri's wedding.

So, we went in with our sample baju, hoping to find a matching tudung. I instantly saw a beautiful pink tudung and when I was busy admiring the tudung, one of the salesgirl came over. She said, "Murah je kak, ada diskaun lagi". Wow, I thought, this must be my lucky day, with a discount some more.

So I asked, "Brape ni dik?". She answered. "5 5 0 aje". And I was struck dumb...I asked again." Brape dik?!!" and to that she answered "RM 550.00". Huh?!! Am I crazy to pay that much amount of money for a tudung that I'll probably wear only once!!! Buying a RM 30+ tudung is already considered quite extravagant for me, how am I going to pay RM550?!!

But I did ask, just in case, "Brape discount?" which she replied, "10%, selalu takde discount macam ni..." Huh?!! I thought 70% discount like in Jusco or Sogo Sale! Hehehe. I had to laugh out loud in the store itself! What else can I do other than crack jokes...hehehe. I asked them what am I going to do with a 550 worth of tudung? Frame them?!! Hehehe. And as usual when I'm being cornered with 2 or 3 salesgirls around me, I laughed like a hyena in there, hehehe...

Sri tried to buy a green tudung for RM100+, plain green, the girls pushed another green tudung, of course it was better because it was more expensive! If I'm not mistaken, nearly RM300. I think the only person who could afford going to that place are people like Ekin (wife of Mawi) because it's sponsored and those really, really rich that they do not know what to do with their money. By the way, Ekin's the model for Ariani, anyway!

The girls were impressed with our dresses actually...hehehe. So I asked them to get my tailor's number, just in case. And to get away, I told them that I'll be bringing the bride (Adik) to their shop for a tudung, then we'll decide whether we'll buy their tudung or not...hehehe. A total lie, of course! But I was really glad to get away from the shop.

Seriously, I wouldn't blink an eye if I was using that amount of money to buy food or books, but for a tudung? For me, a tudung should do their job by covering every single hair on our head not like what our Dato' Siti's wearing or even like what the UMNO ladies are so fond of wearing. That's just making it as an accessory. And being me, I would just chuck it anywhere as soon as I get in the house, much to my husband and MIL's consternation...hehehe. And preferably in a material that would require no-ironing time...hehehe

After that, we went to my tailor's to do a 're-fitting' of all our dresses. When I told her about the shop, Zie showed us an alternative. It was simple, wrinkle-free material and she would sew beads on it for us. Yes! Yes! Yes! And it'll cost only a fraction of the ones sold in Ariani. Zie would even find a matching colour for us, yeay! Sri and I came out looking very pleased with ourselves. Hehehe. Then, we had lunch in Dahlia, near MPM because we were very, very hungry! End of the adventure for today...

Im curious to see how does RM550 tudung looks like.. I wouldn't think of buying it even if I have tons of money.. just plain ridiculous.. The fabric that they used to make the RM100++(my mother bought this once at Ariani) cost just RM5 per meter in Vietnam, and they just need 0.6 meter to make one tudung.. they really make money eh?

Dear Diana,

Gilbabs punya ambik untung kan? Memang kaya la diorang... duit atas angin. I know that kat sudan, kain metres untuk langsir, kusyen yang kat sini 100++ permetre, kat sudan cuma belas-belas ringgit aje. Kain chiffon silk plak. 4.5 metres cuma less than rm 100 aje... giler kan orang untung meniaga?

Dear husband,

don't worry, I takkan belinya, baik beli emas ke berlian ker...kan?kan?

Uwaaaaa!!!!!!!guilty!guilthy!guilty conscious!!!! uwaaaa....I did desperately purchased tudungs at Ariani Bangi coz purposely for formal occasion with the excellency!!!! I won't take them if not because of the purely limited time I had. I went to several shops n archades but couldn't find any match, so two days before we left, (on our way back to kuala pilah)we stopped there, and quickly grabbed tose matched my dresses. relief that I managed to get the right tudungs but of course felt bitter wit the price. One tudung costs me RM 100 + only if compared to that RM 550 you found, but that definately be the most expensive tudung ever for me. Usually, my tudung only costs me around RM 25 the most. I had had regret just after I got them and have managed to forget n forgive myself. But now? uwaaaaaaa!!!! u make me feel guilty again..guilty!!!! sob !sob!

Dear Mie,

Hehehe. But if I'm not mistaken, those 100++ were just plain ones, kan? Apa nak buat, dah beli, pakai je la...hehehe

memang the plain ones. satu tu plain but with two tones, so worth gak le. but the others are just plain bodoh. u know me, wont take yg 'jangok'.masa ambik mg berat ati but pikir terpaksa, ambik je. bila balik tengok macam bodoh gila rupanya, macam yang rm 10 je! sakit ati. tu le, lain kali mg tak leh tergesa-gesa, but really in my case, i had no time to prepare. dah le memang biasa jadi minah selebet, tetiba nak upgrade wardrobe etc, susah n so so pretentious. huh!

RM550! Madness! What is so special about these tudongs? Tell me they are made of egyptian cotton then I wouldnt be so shocked with the price. I think you can even get an egyptian cotton duvet for that price on sale. And you get more cotton too!

Dear Nina,

That was not the most expensive! That was just the first one that I touched...hehehe. The second one came with a price tag of rm589. I didn't want to die of a heart attack, so I didn't touch anything after that...hehehe. I think I need to go there again and take a picture. hehehe
